THE SCHOOL KITCHEN GARDEN

Each week, students spend time in the garden with the school’s gardening teachers.  There, they learn about science and biology, as well as practical skills such as how to compost, collect soil samples, and grow and care for plants.

Children also have weekly cooking classes with kitchen classroom instructor Marguerita Mees, who is also the Edible Schoolyard Director at LCW. The classes focus on nutrition, culture, science, and awakening the senses.

The belief is that one can change children’s’ eating habits if one can educate their palates.
