Hello Lunch Matters Supporters,

Thank you so much for your enthusiasm and generosity at our Lunch Matters fundraiser.
We are thrilled to announce that your participation helped us raise over $130,000 so far
which allows us to break ground on our new kitchen this summer!
Our goal is to be fully operational by the first day of the 2013-2014 school year this fall
serving lunches to both our primary and middle school campuses.

The Edible Schoolyard program is a vital part of Larchmont West Hollywood's academic philosophy
and provides our students with much more than a quality lunch.
The program teaches the principles of eco-literacy through garden and kitchen class and classroom projects.
These concepts help our children understand their place in the world
and how to become responsible members of their community.

Not only will the new kitchen be the cornerstone of our healthy and sustainable lunch program,
it will allow us to grow the entire ESY curriculum and support our school community.
Here are just a few of the exciting things we will be working on once the kitchen is fully operational:

- Tie kitchen classes into the preparation of school lunches
- Expand the participation of students in lunch menu planning
- Generate income opportunities for the school that students can plan and execute
(bake sales, fundraising dinners, selling muffins at school drop off!)
- Launch a 100% participation drive and work towards a price reduction for the lunch program
-Apply for universal breakfast funding and serve students breakfast 5 days a week

We hope you will continue on this journey with us as we expand and grow
to meet Alice Water's vision to revolutionize the way children think
about food, farming, community and the environment.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the following
